Biography

Dr. Yiqing Yang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Sociology at 星空传媒. As a sociologist studying health and aging, Dr. Yang has been interested in how the cultural, political, psychosocial, familial, and community factors affect the health and aging experiences of different cohorts in China and in the United States. Her work involves both statistical analysis of large-sample secondary data and various forms of primary data collection involving surveys, mixed-methods design, longitudinal qualitative interviews, and diary method. Her research appears in journals such as <i>Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences</i>,<i> International Journal of Population Studies</i>,<i> Health Communication</i>, <i>Journal of Cross-Cultural Gerontology</i>, and <i>Journal of Family Issues</i>.

Research Interests

Dr. Yang is currently working with the Health Equity Data Consortium to collect data from Medicaid Regions 1-6 for the purpose of assessing the impact of COVID-19 on households throughout North Carolina. The consortium operates at various sites within the state, with its primary membership comprising Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and also including 星空传媒. Administration is overseen by the NCDHHS Division of Public Health.
