
Prior to coming to Ðǿմ«Ã½, Prof. Merritt taught criminal justice and research methods coursework at Michigan State University and Georgia State University and Introduction to Computers at Cleveland County Community College. She was a police officer in Iowa City, Iowa for two years, a program analyst and grant manager at the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services for eight years, and a consultant for North Carolina Partnership for Children for three years, where she evaluated grant programs. She has been the program director for the Emergency and Disaster Management program at Ðǿմ«Ã½ since 2004 and teaches in both the distance education and residential programs.
