We look forward to meeting you very soon! Please let us know if you have any additional questions. SAFE TRAVELS!
International Orientation Leaders (IOLs) will meet you in the baggage claim area of Asheville Regional Airport (AVL). This is a very small airport, so do not worry about getting lost. We will drive you, in a van, to Ðǿմ«Ã½'s campus in Cullowhee, NC.
IMPORTANT: You MUST submit your details by the deadline for pick-up (Step 1 - Make Travel Arrangements).
You are required to arrive on time which will allow you some time to settle before orientation begins (Step 1 - Make Travel Arrangements).
All students are REQUIRED to attend the mandatory International Student Orientation. Please plan to be available for the entire three-day orientation. During the week of orientation, we will make a trip to the local store (Walmart) for you to buy any essentials.

These are things that you must do before arriving on campus. Once you are admitted, keep an eye out for an invite to our Canvas course! It’s designed to guide you through the Next Steps and help us track your progress together, ensuring you have a smooth and successful start.

There are two types of housing available for international students:
- On Campus
- Off Campus
Explore these options and sign-up for on-campus housing.
Housing Agreement: Students will have access to their Fall 2026 Housing Agreement after paying the enrollment
deposit. They will receive an email from the Department of Residential Living at Ðǿմ«Ã½
asking them to log into their Housing Portal, complete their Housing Agreement, room
preferences and sign up for their Meal Plan.
Housing Preferences: The deadline for students to submit their Housing Preferences is June 30th by 5pm. While students will still be able to submit their Housing Agreement, they will not be able to complete their preferences. If you have any questions regarding housing or accessing the Housing Portal, please email the Department of Residential Living at housingquestions@wcu.edu.
Student housing both on and off campus is in very high demand. Our office strongly recommends that accepted students plan their housing as early as possible.*IMPORTANT: Exchange and first-year students are required to live on campus.
On-Campus housing over winter break (mid-December to mid-January):
Students that plan to stay on-campus over winter break (typically mid-December to
mid-January), must choose Robertson as their residence hall. Robertson is the only
residence hall that stays open over winter break. It costs around $30 per day to stay
over winter break, and you must email housingquestions@wcu.edu to request that option before December 1. Keep in mind that the university closes
for a majority of the winter break and dining options will be limited. However, there
are modified kitchen facilities within Robertson.
*Note: If a student needs to stay for winter break and is not already living in Robertson,
they will need to make a pre-Spring room change and make a change for not only the
duration of winter break but also the Spring semester.
If you are an ISEP or KNPU student, please contact our office (global@wcu.edu)to discuss your housing and meal plan options based on the exchange agreements with your institutions.
